Take on the Side Quests!
We all love a sub-plot!
Exclusive to the journals, you’ll discover hidden badges, portals and quests designed to delight the most daring of challengers. These are not for the faint-hearted, which is why you’ve been granted full access to the files in your journal and the freedom to decide whether you’ll take them on.
The Side Quests are optional mini-challenges that can be completed alongside your regular reading. They invite you to think more deeply, get creative and uncover fresh layers of the challenge.
There are 11 Side Quests (plus one extra-special twelfth!), each with its own reward badge. Most require no extra reading, meaning you can conquer prompts and quests with the same books you read for the main challenge, even ticking off reads towards multiple quests with a single story.
The Badges
Earn your badges as you complete each Side Quest.
When your quests are done, head to The Trophy Room in your journal to place your rewards upon The Side Quest Shield. You may proudly colour in the badges you’ve earned, a mark of your progress and determination.
At the end of each year, additional Side Quest merchandise will be available in the Book Club Shop.
The Keeper's Ribbon

You may have noticed on each of The Prompt Archive files a ribbon fastened to the right-hand side of the page. Its purpose is to record within the main challenge when the book you are archiving and documenting for The Promptastic Challenge
is also contributing towards additional side quests.
When reading, use The Keeper’s Ribbon to keep track of the side quests that each book is also contributing towards.
As you read a book in the main challenge, you must, within The Prompt Archives, on The Keeper’s Ribbons, colour or mark on the icon that corresponds to the side quest which that book is also being used towards. You must also complete the side quest page’s request for any details about how you achieved the side quest you’re working on.
The same book can hit multiple side quests at the same time!
After the eleven side quests are explained within this set of files, you will come across pages with information about the twelfth top-secret side quest called The Dodecagon Quest. You will see here, at the top of The Keeper’s Ribbon, there is a mini Dodecagon Portal icon — all will become clear! Don’t worry. You must read about The Dodecagon Quest before embarking on the main challenge as it runs concurrently. Your instructions can be found at the end of this folder within the Side Quest Vault.
Fill in with the first three letters of the month the book you're archiving was started in, but only if the book matches The Dodecagon Quest theme for that month. Only one book per month can be used and you must have started it in that month. You will find out more about this quest shortly.
Colour in the icons which correspond to the side quests the book you’re archiving has contributed towards achieving. It is possible for multiple side quests’ criteria to be met with one book that’s being read to fulfil one of the prompts in the main challenge.
