In Year Two, Genre Genie evolves into a playful, game-like challenge. Participants follow a genre path, choosing a sequence of genres to read from the start to the finish, in any order that suits them. Additional genres can also be read, but they do not count towards your route to victory! Each genre on the path is a step forward, inviting readers to experiment, mix styles, and uncover surprising combinations.
The focus is on creativity and exploration rather than strict rules. Dive into a suspense thriller, wander into speculative fiction, or pause with contemporary fiction; the path is yours to navigate, and even dead ends are there to be explored. Like Year One, the aim isn’t to read a book in every genre, but to enjoy the journey of discovery and see how different genres can transform the way you read. In Year Two, Genre Genie turns reading into an adventure, with each book a milestone along the way.
