This month our Dodecagon Quest takes us into the fields of consequence, where every decision sown will one day be reaped.
In The Harvesting Scrolls, you are asked to read a story shaped by the weight of careless choices. Here the threads of irresponsibility be they reckless indulgences, neglected duties, rash words, or squandered chances, form the fabric of a tale. The lives within such stories are not ruined in a single moment, but unravel slowly as earlier decisions ripple outward, leaving their indelible mark.
The 'harvest' may be bitter or sweet, but it is always inescapable. Characters may stumble into ruin through folly, or find unexpected wisdom through loss. Some may learn too late what might have been saved, while others discover resilience amid the wreckage of their own making.
As you choose your book, look for stories where actions, or inaction, are pivotal, where the consequences cannot be ignored or erased. Whether in family sagas, tragic romances, cautionary tales, or speculative worlds, the essence lies in how choices shape destiny.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
A glittering tragedy where careless wealth and reckless indulgence lead to ruin. The characters’ irresponsibility, especially Gatsby’s blind devotion and Daisy and Tom’s thoughtless actions, shows how lives can be destroyed by selfish choices and squandered chances.

How Do I Match Books to ‘The Harvest Scrolls’ and the Year One Challenge Prompts?
